Training topics will include methods that can be used for both external and internal Exposome assessment.
These include the use of novel technologies such as sensors, big data and smart phone applications for the assessment of the external Exposome; human biomonitoring, omics platforms and bioinformatics, for the internal Exposome, and toxicokinetic models that can help bridge the relationship between the external and internal exposomes.
In addition to courses, personnel exchange will allow e.g. CUT-CII individuals to work with IOM and TNO on existing projects (logically contingent upon consent with the respective project partners) or data from the exposome studies these institutions are involved in, resulting in joint publications and sharing of knowledge.
This Exposome-based framework will improve the understanding of the interplay between occupation, lifestyle/behaviours and environment on health, and thereby enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of interventions, via reduced exposures and therefore minimized risks. Also, surrounding communities will be considered.
